About us

Formed in 2015, Reed Wellbeing has expanded rapidly, developing and delivering evidence-based lifestyle and wellbeing programmes that help people improve their health. Guided by psychologists, dietitians, physical activity experts and other specialists our local teams support people to make sustainable, positive behavioural changes using engaging and interactive interventions that address individuals’ needs. We deliver our services in the heart of communities, working with local public, private and voluntary partners.


We currently provide a range of adult health and wellbeing services in over 20 local authorities. Services include: weight management, physical activity (including GP referral), smoking cessation, intensive personal support, healthy eating and drinking, health checks and other healthy lifestyle promotion, outreach, support and training services – either directly or through trusted partners.


The role

The Health & Wellbeing Manager is directly responsible and accountable for the effective delivery of a range of health interventions across a geographical area, ensuring our services meet or exceed commissioner performance expectations, are delivered within agreed budget and to agreed quality standards. A Health & Wellbeing Manager will typically be responsible for a number of contracts, delivering multiple service streams.


The specific interventions for which they will be accountable will be dependent on the programme, that they have responsibility for, but may include a combination of: (i) adult weight management; (ii) physical activity; (iii) smoking cessation; (iii) health lifestyle and eating; (iv) health checks; and (v) low threshold interventions designed to raise awareness of health issues and support for individuals to make sustainable lifestyle changes.


The role will involve the building and maintaining of effective stakeholder relationships and the organisation of programme promotion activities to achieve constructive relationships with local commissioning bodies, referral sources (e.g. GPs, health check providers, other health service providers) and local complimentary services. The Health & Wellbeing Manager may also have responsibility for management of local supply chain partners.


Key responsibilities

  • Leadership & Team Management - leading and managing a dynamic and multi-disciplinary team of Health & Wellbeing Coaches, providing strong leadership, co-ordination, planning and support that motivates and inspires the team to take ownership for and to deliver high impact, high quality lifestyle and wellbeing services.
  • Performance Management and Delivery - effectively promote and manage the programme through effective planning, co-ordinating and monitoring of performance, quality and cost effectiveness of all elements of the service provision.
  • Business Growth and Relationship & Stakeholder Management - proactively seeking to grow the Reed Wellbeing business. Building and maintaining effective stakeholder relationships with local commissioning bodies, referral organisations and local complimentary services.
  • Supply Chain Management - managing local supply chain partners, ensuring that performance and quality of service is maintained in line with contractual expectations.
  • Quality and Continuous Improvement - responsible for the continuous improvement at the team level and contribution to continuous improvement at the organisational level.
  • Safeguarding - being the Designated Safeguarding Person (DSP) for the services falling within their responsibilities. They will have a delegated responsibility for dealing with, and leading on, safeguarding issues within the business, providing advice and support to Co-Members, and working with a range of other agencies.


Person specification

Required Education Attainments:

  • Educated to degree level or equivalent; or
  • A-Level or equivalent attainment plus at least 2 years of high quality line management experience in a health-related environment.

 

Required Knowledge & Skills Attainments:

  • Knowledge and understanding of key health-related lifestyle services such as diabetes prevention, weight management, smoking cessation, physical inactivity etc.
  • At least 2 years of high quality management experience in a customer focussed, target orientated environment.
  • Demonstrative experience of developing and managing external stakeholder relationships.
  • High level of personal organisation and time management skills.

  • Proven ability to lead, manage, motivate and develop a team of staff delivering a responsive, customer focused professional service.
  • Proven ability to build relationships and influence others.
  • Ability to implement business objectives and closely monitor achievement of targets.
  • Strong planning and organisational skills, with the ability to set objectives, prioritise and provide sound judgement and decision-making.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Customer orientated and committed to continually improving the quality and effectiveness of service delivery.
  • Experience of delivering services within a quality assurance and governance framework.
  • Proven ability to work on your own initiative and work effectively as part of a team
  • Proven ability to use Microsoft Word, Excel and database software programmes.
